Unsurprisingly, they are asking for some more info... so, while we're putting that together for them to review, we are enjoying the comforting thought that at least we weren't rejected outright. Hopefully we have a final decision here in a couple of few. The cast will also give you a seek peek at whatever it is we are working on for upcoming issues. We haven't hammered out an exact schedule, so releases could be a little erratic for a while here, but the general idea is:
*1 month of previews of magazine content before the release of a new issue
*1 month of a previews of companion content when the issue is released
*1 month with the full content

As an added bonus, future issues of the magazine will have a code (or something) in them that you can use to unlock the full versions of the content a month before they would release in the regular schedule.

We've submitted the cast to iTunes and Zune for review, but have no idea how quickly that process can be finished. So, when we have more news, we'll let you know. For now, you can check out the first episode Here, or you can manually add the RSS feed to your software of choice using this address (http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/BeauMist_PCFeed.rss) Happy listening! The first few people to visit the locations can pick a one up for free. The others can take some time to enjoy some unique offerings at each library.

The locations are:
Frisco Public Library

Located inside the Frisco City Hall building, this is a really nice library with a couple levels of books, quiet study rooms, and an impressive dvd collection. Outside you can also enjoy some public art displays. Hopefully, the magazine will be added to their collection soon.

Haggard Library

A pretty large location near the middle of Plano. As they say, time does seem to fly. Really hard to believe that it's been a whole year since Beautiful Mistakes officially became a Not-for-profit organization.
Looking at the year in review, I certainly wish we could have done more than just post (presumably) obnoxious updates in your news feeds; but with no money to speak of and little extra time to devote thanks to the newest Rowe it is reasonably hard to do more.
Anyway, our 2nd year is definitely shaping up to be much more interesting; we finally got our hands on some funds this week so, at long last, we are going to put out our first issue of the magazine (hopefully by the end of this month). The hard copy version will be available first, followed by an e-book format afterwards. More details as to where you can obtain those later.
We will also be pursuing our tax-exemption status, because those deductions are just so damn satisfying when April rolls around.
Some other ideas are kicking around, but are not quite ready to be revealed. Just be assured that they would be completely awesome if they ever get further than the planning stage.
So, thank you for not un-subscribing during a year of infrequent updates. We will do better to entertain you this time around. Though BeautifulMistakes seems to have fallen off the map, it has not removed itself from my mental real estate. Trust that I have not given up on the idea; instead its bandwidth has been redirected to growing concerns. Namely, to this growing concern. Lately, many a day is spent putting together cribs and strollers, watching sonograms, or attending child birth classes. Many a night my thoughts have turned to the malnourished magazine; my body confined to non-action by conflicting schedules, lack of energy and sleeplessness. All this to say - though it is likely obvious already - I am hitting pause on BeautifulMistakes until next year. Our young son is predicted to join us in February. Hard to tell whether paternity leave will be a boon of time to dedicate to the creative or animation further suspended here. Regardless, I will strive to leave a few things whenever I can. Contemplating the Austin City Limits music fest in October to enjoy some bands and to fully pimp myself out. If I decide to do so, it would mean a host of updates to prepare the site for actual use... and could be enough to motivate me to not attend said music fest. More updates as I deem necessary Sun, 03 May 2009 00:00:00 EDT [05.03.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Home http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=52 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=52 Random Note... a couple more pages I've been working on: cakes and ads (bleg) . The first for a friend of mine to display her cake-creations; the last an experiment to see if my next phase of planned updates would truly allow for the artists here to raise some funds... which would be cool. Also had some conversations this weekend which might have inspired me to get back to work on this piece. Later Thu, 12 Mar 2009 00:00:00 EDT [03.12.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Work http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=51 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=51 Trying to muster the energy to make the next batch of updates... sometime... ...Later Thu, 05 Feb 2009 00:00:00 EST [02.05.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Home http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=50 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=50 More minor updates... Now if you create an account, you can also add a profile. Which is cool. You cannot, however, change it - ever. Ok, at least not until I make a few more updates, then you will be able to change it too. Small steps Tue, 03 Feb 2009 00:00:00 EST [02.03.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Home http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=49 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=49 Beat my head against the wall making the update that I thought I finished yesterday... thus the value of UAT... but I do love sleeping and will usually chose that instead of lots of data cleaning... usually. Anyway, I also did some reformatting of the dates on the page, because while I think UNIX date formats look fine... some people may disagree. More later Tue, 03 Feb 2009 00:00:00 EST [02.03.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Home http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=48 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=48 So now, if you've created an account and logged yourself in, you can add comments to the pictures in the content gallery... which is just what you've been itching to do, I know. I'm too tired to make a cool icon for it tonight, but I will try for tomorrow night. More neat things to come. ...at some point Thu, 29 Jan 2009 00:00:00 EST [01.29.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Home http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=47 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=47 Another minor update moving towards the bigger picture. Now you can create an account and log in to the site... which does exactly nothing. Awesome! Totally awesome Tue, 27 Jan 2009 00:00:00 EST [01.27.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Home http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=46 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=46 A new poem from Chris Hamm -- a tribute to his late mother, very touching. On that note, condolences and love to Beth, who lost her mother yesterday, coincidentally on Chris' birthday. Mon, 26 Jan 2009 00:00:00 EST [01.26.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Home http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=45 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=45 Did some work with accessing artist bios from the gallery... You'll notice a couple icons when you open the picture now. Which is neat. I also trimmed up my rss stuff, and put handy links to Google and Yahoo tools on the News and Archives. Cuz I'm cool like that. Later Sun, 25 Jan 2009 00:00:00 EST [01.25.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Home http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=44 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=44 Did a little tweaking on the 'gallery' in preparation for future additions; If you're clever, you can probably guess what those additions might be. Also if you're not clever. I also learned that if you're going to use any kind of scripting on your webpage, you should make sure your data is clean, and that it works w/ said scripting. That way you won't have to waste a few hours making minor updates to every freaking picture on your page. More later Thu, 22 Jan 2009 00:00:00 EST [01.22.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Home http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=43 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=43 Added a few more pictures that have been hanging up around the house for years now. I don't think the scans really do them justice, but then, I'm biased. So now I'm out of content that I've already drawn, so if I want to post anything new, I'll need to start drawing again... Or Something Wed, 21 Jan 2009 00:00:00 EST [01.21.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Home http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=42 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=42 Scanner works pretty well -- posted some Notebook sketches and a couple desktops... It was kinda depressing seeing the slim number of drawings I did during Grad school... I guess it's harder to daydream when you actually have to take notes. More updates soon Tue, 20 Jan 2009 00:00:00 EST [01.20.09] Posted by: Travis | From: Work http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=41 http://www.beautifulmistakes.com/newsfeed.php?HEAD=41 Finally procured a scanner this weekend, so I should have 'some' new content tonight or tomorrow. Namely, I've made an RSS feed (which you are actually reading right now) and since the great people @ Google have a lot of free time, they made a iGoogle part out of it too. Click this button to add it to your iGoogle (if you have one)

I'll try to move on to phase 2 of the remodel this week. Finally, something I've always wanted to do with this site is done. We now feature independant music. Well, just the one band... but they're good ones. Pardon the Weather added their demo album to the annals of the Mistakes. We were having drinks with one of the band members (Josh) tonight and I was inspired to post their music instead of being lazy (like usual). I was not inspired, however, to make all the new images I need to in order to make a proper Music section (I = Lazy -- see earlier). Major updates coming before summer school! Still dreaming. Anyway, nerd swtich off Many many ideas coming, like always... but these might actually work, so.. yeah, maybe you'll see them by the end of the year... maybe. Until then, sporaditc updates that make the site all pretty-fied, but probably not much new content Still dreaming. Peace. Fuck it anyway, I'll just have to come up w/ something clever to get around the fact that my CSS-fu is not good enough to deal with Microsoft. Just one picture to post, and it's not even exciting. Still dreaming. So, yes that's why it's been 6 months and all I have to post is this one picture. Anyways, still dreaming, as always. Peace. THEMED desktops. HIS and HERS themed desktops Check 'em out here. In other news, I've been redoing the code for this damn page over the last month. I've been writting in in CSS so the pages I've finished look hella good in FireFox.... ...and ass ugly in IE6. As soon as I finish re-coding for a brower that will get an update in the next 6 years, I will probably make an alternate page for the IE6 users (ie. everybody). I promise you it won't be as pretty, but I'm aiming for less bandwidth use as I cling to the sad hopes that this page will be viewed by more than me some day. Anyways, that's it. Rendering him eligible for whole 'nother page. You can check it out here In other news I wanted to post these here: [Images removed] Both of these are up for purchase at my shame of a store you may have to contact me tho if you want one or the other because CafePress only lets me post one type of large poster at a time, and when they say "large" poster, they mean "just about what everyone else thinks is normal" Also, I'm hoping to get some more artwork of my own but the next month and a half promise to be VERY busy so don't hold yer breath. Needless to say, you should expect me to color alot of my Notebook sketches in the very near future. So near; in fact, that I already did. Wow! Also, I got more renders from Dan. Fantastic! I'd say you can continue to expect him to supply that hot shit to me as he progresses. And... I guess that's it. He's really going to town with these 3d renders he's doing in school, so expect more from him soon. As for me, I've got a few picture ideas kicking around and maybe I'll post a movie up here, just to test my bandwidth. Mostly, tho, I've spent most of today looking at other pages that do what I want to do with this page a thousand times better than I do. What does that mean? It means that I'm tooling around with ideas for recruiting new mistakes. If you're already 'published' here, expect me to tap you to help out once I figured out what it is I should do. Later. It's true, I live in Dallas now and I am engaged. I even posted my first serious multimedium (watercolor and ink) to celebrate and since it's been half a year since I even made an update, you know that's serious shit. Also, Dan gave me some ass-kicking 3d renders. I hope to get alot more of this action in the future. Speaking of the future, we'll see if I can get motivated to do something awesome with this. I mean, I'm paying for it, I might as well use it. Later y'all. That said, I'm going to have to sort thru every single page and picture to make sure it comes up right but I think I'm back to 90% or so. Maybe all this work and the retarded amount of bandwidth I have now will insipire me to draw/write something. Or Maybe I'll get energetic and do some recruiting or some shit. Latez. I have a good feeling I'll spend some time in the near future redesigning the art section for easier viewing... Of course, as always, I'll have to do alot of HTML research first... Peace. UPDATE: [02.22.05] I've begun making good on that post. I finally broke down and made the notebook section load faster. It's still a beast, but it's easier to deal with. Check out my art section to see how the rest of the art pages will end up. I finally fixed up the desktops and made all the different sections more uniform. I may also throw some new backgrounds up here and there or maybe mess with the color scheme or something, but the main part of the redisgning is done (making 400 new thumbnails in one day was a little time consuming). So, I'll keep tweaking and maybe post some stuff next month. I'm out. I haven't taken the time to get the screen captures yet, but when it's done you can click here and you'll see how a Java Applet can reveal the secrets of an infinate diety. Six (6) days later and I've got more story action AND another new Artist! The Legendary Mike Clark now has his work up here. It's kind of weird because the story that's up there now has been on my computer for like... 2 years. But, with the promise of another one on the way, we figgered it's about time he got his own showcase. So, the one story's there now. Another will follow shortly. Also, his Bio isn't quite ready yet, but it should be up before you come to tears over it. Well, remember that reading is good and reading about video games is entertaining. Peace Out. I'd say we should all mourn it, but it died a long, long time ago... so, let's move on with our lives. In happier news, I am hoping to be getting two ENTIRELY NEW ARTISTS up on this thing in the near future. Which blows my mind. It even makes me look forward to all the work I'll have to do to add them in. So, be on the look-out for that. I'll catch y'all later. I remember thinking that I should not post it originally because it finishes up another story I already put up here... and I thought that was kind of stupid... But, now that I read it again, I like it too much to just have it sit on my floor forever... In other news, I put some of those fliers up around campus... I have yet to hear from anyone about it, but hey, I did my part. If you are close enough, come git one from me. More stuff later. I would like to think I made it more cohesive... but there is still alot of tweaking to do... So if you look close, you may be able to see some more slight changes over the next few days. Until the next real update, visit my Xanga (http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=solidcid) and then click on the link there to come back to the main page... then repeat until you can feel an actualy hatred of me deep inside your heart. Today I doubled the size of the Literature section of this beast in one update. And it's ALL thanks to Dan. He gave me a bunch of his stories to put up and I've just now gotten around to posting them... (I blame my comp for deciding that it needed to overheat every three seconds this weekend...) Anyways, check them out. They are all fairly massive and obscenely creative. I swear that he's got a whole different universe in his head. In other news, I'm renovating the page again soon... Maybe tomorrow after class. Peace. I've been ripped off. www.beautifulmistakes.net is out there now. A page that promises to feature animation, graphic design and artwork. As of yet, I'm seeing no actual page there, just a filler-thing. BUT I believe I've found the resolve to show these fuckers who the original Mistake is. Look for something redically new around the time I get back to skool at the end of this month... You are warned.
